Ranveer Singh finalised for the Hindi remake of ‘Magadheera’: Finally it’s out! Ranveer Singh has pipped the likes of Hrithik Roshan and Ranbir Kapoor to star in the remake of the blockbuster Telugu film Magadheera. Ranveer will play the role of a medieval warrior in the film.

Earlier there were reports of Ranbir Kapoor signing the film; the actor also confirmed that he is in talks with the makers but nothing was finalized. The remake rights are with the producer Vikas Bahl and director Anurag Kashyap. Since Ranveer is already working in Anurag Kashyap’s production Lootera, it doesn’t come as a surprise that he was offered the film.

In fact, we believe Ranveer Singh with his looks and long hair can do full justice to the role of a warrior. The Ladies V/s Ricky Bahl star will also undergo intense physical training for the role which demands some tough action sequences that includes sword fighting.

Producer Bahl confirmed that Ranveer is in Magadheera and said, “Ranveer is the best thing that could have happened to it. He has all the ingredients to be a passionate lover, a warrior and an entertainer.”

Magadheera is the 2009 Telugu blockbuster film starring Ram Charan Teja and Kajal Aggarwal. The historic love story of the film is set against the backdrop of 17th century and also shows the two lovers in the contemporary times. The movie won many awards and was critically acclaimed for its technical brilliance.

India’s Oscar hope almost squashed again!: Bad news for the Oscar hopefuls in India. The country’s official entry to the upcoming Academy Awards, the Malayalam film titled Adaminte Makan Abu is out of the Oscar race.

Directed by Salim Ahmed, Adaminte Makan Abu was among 63 entries screened by the Oscar committee in the first phase for the Best Foreign Film for 2011. Alas, the movie has failed to make it to the top nine shortlist.

Adaminte Makan Abu is India’s National Award winning film. It is a family drama about an elderly Muslim couple and their struggle to go on a Haj.

With Adaminte Makan Abu out of the Oscar race, the only hope is pinned to the film Dam999 which is not an official entry but an independent entry to the Academy Awards. The film is about the collapse of an old dam.

The nominations for the Academy Awards will be announced on Jan 24, 2012, in the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theatre. The awards will be held on February 26.

The last Indian to win the Academy Award was A R Rahman for his score in Slumdog Millionaire in 2009. He was nominated last year for his compositions in 127 Hours, but did not win.

The last Indian film to be nominated at the Oscars was Lagaan in the year 2002. Another nomination came in the year 2004 for Little Terrorist, a short film. Neither of the films won.

Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif headed for Cuba!: The Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif saga continues. After shooting together in Ireland and Istanbul, the former lovers and still-thick-friends will soon head to Cuba to shoot for their film Ek Tha Tiger.

The movie, directed by Kabir Khan of New York fame, has a story that is set against the backdrop of many metropolises throughout the world. The next schedule will be in Cuba.

We hear that Cuba has been specifically chosen as the shooting destination because of Salman Khan’s neurological condition Trigeminal Neuralgia that gets aggravated in cold climes. Salman Khan underwent a surgery for the disorder in August last year, but the condition returned when he shot in Dublin later in the year because of the cold.

This will be Katrina Kaif’s first visit to Cuba. Buzz is that she is very concerned about Salman Khan’s health and will make sure he doesn’t strain himself too much during the shoot. Salman, on the other hand, has been very protective of Katrina Kaif from the start. The care and affection between the two is mutual, but calling it “love” would be an exaggeration as of now.

Katrina Kaif is presently in Macau for Zee Cine Awards.

Till a couple of days back, reports suggested that Jennifer Aniston is pregnant; however, today, the internet is chock-full with the news of Angelina’s pregnancy as well!

A source is quoted as saying by the tabloid OK: “It’s not something she (Angelina Jolie) wants to officially announce but she's at a point where she is telling a select group of people…Angelina is really savouring every moment. She's having a tough time with morning sickness but says it’s all worth it.”

Well, speaking about Jennifer Aniston, she is reported to be six-months-pregnant! Last week, she was spotted with a noticeable baby bump which she tried to hide with a wide coat! A friend of hers is quoted as saying by Look magazine: “She wouldn’t have wanted to make a big deal but she must be so excited….If anyone ever asked if she was worried about running out of time, she’d reply, ‘I’m absolutely having kids there’s not one doubt in my mind’.”

Shahid Kapoor in Karan Johar’s next: This one was long due! Well, the little birdies are chirping that Shahid Kapoor will soon be seen in a movie which will be filmed under Karan Johar’s banner, Dharma Productions.

The movie will reportedly be directed by Punit Malhotra of the I Hate Luv Storys fame! Earlier, the movie was to be filmed with Imran Khan as the lead actor; however, he was replaced by Shahid Kapoor.

It’s a notable fact that Shahid Kapoor was offered a role in Kaal by Karan Johar in 2005! But Shahid Kapoor declined the role since Kareena Kapoor and Karan Johar were on sour terms at that time! Kareena Kapoor was apparently replaced by Preity Zinta for Kal Ho Na Ho which turned out to be a blockbuster; and back then, Shahid and Kareena were lovers!

However, while Shahid Kapoor’s fans must be really having a good time reading this news, there’s some disappointment for the fans of Sonam Kapoor; Shahid Kapoor’s gain is Sonam Kapoor’s loss! Sonam was supposed to be cast in the movie! But since Sonam and Shahid’s Mausam jodi was a dud at the BO, Karan thought it would be better to cast someone else as the female lead!
