The Madhur Bhandarkar film may have got mixed reviews from the critics, but the movie, also starring Arjun Rampal and Randeep Hooda, managed to cruise into the safe zone with its first weekend collection. The break-up in nett figures is thus.
Friday: Rs. 7.50 crore
Saturday: Rs. 8.50 crore
Sunday: Rs. 9 crore
Do notice that the rise in the business on Saturday and Sunday wasn’t substantial, but the film managed to hold on its own. The film is made on a budget of Rs. 22 crore and has additional promotional cost of Rs. 10 crore. It needs to recover Rs. 32 crore to be a profitable venture, something it surely will.
Meanwhile, Barfi! witnessed an extraordinary second weekend with a collection of Rs. 17 crore. The film’s ten-day collection now stands at Rs. 75 crore plus, making it a HIT. The film’s selection as Indian entry at Oscars did draw in additional footfalls over the weekend.
The coming Friday would see the release of Omg Oh My God! and Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal.

Over a year back it looked as if Heroine was scrapped after Aishwarya Rai made an exit from the movie due to her pregnancy. As luck would have it, Madhur Bhandarkar approached Kareena Kapoor, his original choice for the role, once again after she had initially declined the offer. This time Bebo gave her nod and soon Heroine was rolling.
Also starring Arjun Rampal, Randeep Hooda, Shahana Goswami and Divya Dutta, the film is based on the life and times of a superstar heroine from the dream factory called Bollywood. The film promises to offer an entertaining, daring, emotional, shocking, glamorous, scandalous behind-the-scenes account of the reality behind the world of glitz and glamour that our film stars inhabit.
Heroine promises to take audiences on a voyeuristic journey to see what really goes on behind the closed doors of make-up rooms and vanity vans. It will give them a chance to go beyond the gorgeous smiles and politically correct quotes, to see what really happens in the lives of India's sweethearts - The sniping & the politics, the secrets & the lies, the incredible highs of fame & the lonely depths of failure.

Mahi Arora was on top of her game. She was single, fancy free, footloose, beautiful, famous, successful and very-very rich and of course still young.
Unfortunately, Mahi's inner world was in direct contrast to her outer life. After all uneasy lays the head that wears a crown. Prone to intense mood swings, in fact secretly bipolar, insecure, unsure and very lonely. Mahi's only source of happiness was love, her insane, all pervasive, all-consuming love for the reigning superstar who hadn't quite committed to her.
While all her contemporaries were busy strategizing career moves, endorsements, 'alliances' and even marriages, Mahi, unmindful of her career was only focused on somehow getting her love requited and in her attempt to do that begins a journey spiraling downwards. This quest for love starts taking her to disastrous depths, yet always saving her just when she's at the edge.
The story goes through various ill-fated relationships and career roller coasters all the way to a point where Mahi is forced to risk everything she had. Her career, her sanity and her life all at once go through a spinning twist.
Could Mahi retain her position as the No. 1 Heroine of her times? Was her True Love ever going to be requited? Was Mahi going to lose everything she cared for? OR was there a way of saving herself to emerge as a true Heroine . . . of Life???
These are questions that only can be answered by Mahi Arora herself.
Heroine has music by Salim Merchant and Sulaiman Merchant. One of its songs, ‘Halkat Jawani’ has already scorched the charts.
The costumes are by Manish Malhotra, Niharika Khan and Shefalina.

After Sharmila Tagore, Manish Malhotra has spilled the beans regarding Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor's wedding. The fashion designer, who has confirmed that he is designing the actress' attire, says he will stick to the bride's simple, yet elegant taste.
Asked if he is designing Kareena's wedding dress, Manish confirmed it, saying: "That's right! You ask her the details. But yes, it's mid-October, everyone knows this now."
"There is a very small function which is (with) family and friends. Then there is a reception in Delhi, so (I am designing) for both the occasions," the 47-year-old said here Friday at the HT Brunch Dialogues.
Saif's mother, veteran actress Sharmila has so far maintained that the D-day is Oct 16. However, neither Saif Ali Khan nor Kareena Kapoor, have confirmed it.
Malhotra says the preparations are on in full swing, and Kareena wants to keep it simple.
"Kareena, always as an actor and as a personality, never likes too much of embroidery and jewellery. She is beautiful and she is very aware of that.
"I don't think there would be too much of embroidery or shine, it's going to be more old world charm...lots of nice fabric, but not too much," he added.
Saif and Kareena have been dating each other since 2007.

“When I shot my first intimate scene for Raajneeti, I was a little hesitant. I went, 'Oh my god, yeh main kaise kar paunga, yeh main kyu kar raha huun '. But, then I realised it's a part of my job! Now when I shoot for any intimate scene, I just take it in my stride,” Arjun express a daily.
