A group of gym instructors in Nagpur got together to show their protest against Emraan Hashmi. Showing their protest, they blackened the face of the actor on the movie’s posters at Smruti Cinema; they also tore down the posters and burned them along with an effigy of the actor.
In Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji, Emraan plays a gym instructor who keeps hitting on his female clients all the time, bedding a few in the process. This portrayal was seen as insulting to their profession by some gym instructors in Nagpur who also demanded the movie to be taken off from Smruti cinema.
However, the movie is continuing to run at the theatre.
Afterall Madhuri Dixit was heard telling everyone after a special screening of 'Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji', that she loved Emraan's performance the most. Emraan Hashmi says, Award functions are like a circus: Emraan Hashmi was nominated as best villain for his role in " Once Upon A Time In Mumbai" at two award ceremonies but the actor says such functions are like a "circus" and prefers audience acclaim any day.
"These award ceremonies really don't make a difference to me. I have got my acclaim and awards from the audience... I don't really see that (award functions) as something I ever really believed it. I generally don't approve of these nominations," Emraan told us. "If you see any award ceremony, they are pleasing everyone. There are three categories for every actor... it's ridiculous... and three awards given to music. I really don't want to be part of the circus. The whole industry goes and claps for it but I don't want to be part of it," he said.
Set primarily in 1970s Mumbai, "Once Upon A Time in Mumbai" captures the changing face of the Mumbai underworld seen through the eyes of a police officer.
Directed by Milan Luthria, the crime thriller follows the rise of Sultan ( Ajay Devgan) and his eventual fall when his protege Shoaib (Emraan) challenges his supremacy and usurps power to rule the murky underbelly of the city.
While Emraan was nominated at both the Star Screen Awards and the Apsara Awards, he did not bag a prize for his performance. Emraan has won an award for his work in " Murder" at the 2005 Stardust Awards.
Emraan Hashmi's 'Murder 2' is an edgy thriller film!: The serial-kisser of Bollywood, actor Emraan Hashmi has already started shooting for the sequel of one of his most sensual hits “Murder” (2004) and hints that this instalment would be a more “edgy thriller” in which he plays the role of a serial killer.”We have started shooting. Our main schedule will be in Goa. There is quite a bit of work left. I think we will be looking forward to release it this year,” Emraan told us
“We are taking it away from the space people are actually thinking it’s in. It taps the simple angle of lust and all that was there in the first part. But it doesn’t dwell primarily on the area of lust. It takes into more edgy thrill space,” he said. “Thrill was there in ‘Murder’ but people associated only with the sensuality, probably that kind of boldness. This is bold in a very different way. All the presumptions what media and people have would be probably put to rest when they see the film. We never had films with serial killers. It deals with those different areas. That’s what makes it new and unique,” Emraan added.
Sultry Mallika Sherawat has been replaced by actress Jacqueline Fernandez as the female lead in “Murder 2″.
“I don’t understand that six-pack band thing anyways. I did it because my director said that I need to look tough for a role. I am not obsessed with the pack thing,” he said.
