Sources reveal that Priyanka Chopra has pipped Katrina and Deepika to the post.
Her penchant for action roles and athletic body gave her the edge over the other girls.
Just days after the word about three possible contenders (Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone) to bag the coveted role started doing the rounds, now another actress is rumoured to be under consideration. She’s no other than the Slumdog Millionaire starlet and Mumbai girl Freida Pinto who’s a hot property in Hollywood but hasn’t been lured to Bollywood yet.
The gossip is that producer Aditya Chopra is keen to make Dhoom 3 bigger and better than the previous two films in the franchise. And what would be better than to rope in the actress who’s made her mark worldwide.
Moreover, the pairing of Aamir and Freida would be unusually refreshing.
There’s also the buzz that Katrina Kaif is also a strong contender to clinch the role.
However, the production house Yash Raj Films is still in the process of finalizing the actresses.

The chances are that Kat might get the role as she is the current favourite of YRF. She is doing Mere Brother Ki Dulhan with the production house and is also not that busy in the year 2011, unlike Deepika. Deeps has a slew of films lined up for this year; she has also said yes to a Rajinikanth film. Same is the case with Priyanka who is also very busy for this year.

Victor Acharya, who wrote “Dhoom” and “Dhoom 2″ is the writer-director of “Dhoom 3″. The earlier installments were directed by Sanjay Gadhvi and starred Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra.
“When I heard the story from Victor, I really enjoyed it. Very well-written script, very enjoyable. It’s a great franchise and I am happy to be part of it. I am also looking forward to work with Abhishek and Uday,” Aamir said.
“It’s true that for the first time I’m doing a negative role, an anti-hero in the mainstream film. I liked my role and all the characters are very well-written. Actually, in between I did another negative role in an offbeat film ‘1947 Earth’,” said Aamir.
This is the second time Aamir is working with Yash Raj Films after “Fanaa” in 2006.
“I have worked with Yash Raj and I have a very comfortable relation with them,” he said.
The actor said Victor and producer Aditya Chopra are yet to decide the actress opposite him.
While “Dhoom” starred John Abraham as villain, “Dhoom 2″ saw Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai sizzle too.
Victor Acharya’s debut “Tashan” (2008) fared badly at the box office but that didn’t deter Aamir from signing his film.
“I think he is a very talented director. One shouldn’t decide a director’s capacity with the fate of any one of his films. I have full faith in him,” Aamir said.
Yash Chopra, speaking about DHOOM 3 says, “It’s a great pleasure to have Aamir working with YRF once again. It’s even more special that he will be doing DHOOM 3. I am terribly excited with what an actor like Aamir will bring to the DHOOM franchise with his unique star power and level of performance. Adi and Victor have worked over a year to bring out, what I can now confidently say, is possibly one of the best scripts coming out of YRF and I am sure that with Aamir and Adi together, they will both create magic to give our audience one of the most exciting films they have ever seen.”

Produced by Aditya Chopra, DHOOM:3 will be written and directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, popularly known as Victor, who has written DHOOM 1 & 2. Victor has also written and directed Tashan.
Both Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra will continue in their now iconic roles of Jai Dixit and Ali.
The film will begin shooting end of this year and is slated for a 2012 Christmas release.
