ICC Cricket World Cup 2011: The grand opening is today!: Let the show begin. Finally, the wait is over as the opening ceremony of ‘World Cup 2011’ will be held in Bangladesh today. The country is one of the co-host of the Cricket World Cup along with India and Sri Lanka.

In the opening ceremony at the Bangabandhu Stadium, some of the well-known singers from Asia and outside are going to perform. World Cup official song composers Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam, Bengali singer Runa Laila and the legendary Canadian rockstar Bryan Adams will add zing to the ceremony.

The opening ceremony will depict the rich and diverse culture of the co-hosts India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, and that is going to be one of the main highlights of the event. The brilliant fireworks and amazing laser show will be another attraction of the opening ceremony.

According to Mail Today, “The full teams will not be there at the opening. Only the captains and the managers will be present. That is how (Indian company) Wizcraft has designed the ceremony”. One major reason for the team’s absence could have been a big logistical problem in transporting teams from various parts of the three south Asian countries.

However, the word is that the captains of the fourteen participating countries will be given a rickshaw ride inside the stadium.

The Indian team has already left for Bangladesh today morning. The first match of the World Cup will be held on 19th Feb, 2011, between India and Bangladesh.

Lara Dutta & Mahesh Bhupathi got married today!: Bollywood actress Lara Dutta and tennis player Mahesh Bhupathi got married today in a civil ceremony. They are now headed for a Christian wedding in Goa.

The two got hitched at Mahesh’s Bandra house where a marriage registrar was reportedly called to legalize the marriage.

Before the wedding, Mahesh tweeted: “Anyway the civil ceremony is in an hour so I got to get ready.”

After the wedding, he tweeted the above pic and wrote: “Mr. And Mrs. Bhupathi folks... :)”

From what we hear, the registered marriage was a very private affair with only close family members of Lara and Mahesh in attendance.

Now, Lara and Mahesh will head to Goa for a Christian wedding on Feb 19 at Sunset Venue, Taj Aguada. On Feb 18, there will be a sangeeth ceremony at a beach resort.

We wish Lara and Mahesh a happy wedded life.
Salma Hayek will come to India: Mexican actress Salma Hayek will come to India to shoot her film ‘The Driver’, co-starring Bollywood’s badman Gulshan Grover.

The movie will reportedly be shot at Gajener Palace in Rajasthan. In the film, Grover and Hayek play a married couple.

So thrilled was Gulshan after signing this film opposite Hayek that he broke the news prematurely to the media a little while back. This had clearly upset Hayek and the film’s director Bill Duke, and Grover was summoned to New York to explain his over-exuberance.

But now the matter has been sorted out and we hear that Hayek herself will fly down to Bikaner to shoot the film in May.

Grover still can’t stop smiling ear to ear.
Tanu Weds Manu director axed the Salman Khan’s cameo in his film!: In the times when directors and producers are queuing up to sign Salman Khan for their films, director Anand Rai has reportedly axed the superstar’s cameo in his upcoming film Tanu Weds Manu.

In the movie, slated to release next week, Salman plays one of the suitors of Kangana Ranaut, who essays the role of a rebellious small town girl. Salman’s is a brief role that adds star value to the project.

However, the final cut of the film, we hear, doesn’t feature Salman. The cameo apparently was chopped at the editing table.

Director Anand Rai says he wanted Salman’s cameo to be the surprise element of the film, but when the news about it spread through the media, the surprise element was lost.

There have also been rumours that Salman’s cameo was deleted because of his strained equation with the film’s leading lady Kangana Ranaut, but Rai denies it.
