Tanu Weds Manu Music Review: No big names, no big production house, and this is also not a big budget project but has two natural actors, a new director, and, can we now say, an incredibly talented new music director. Tanu Weds Manu starring Kangana Ranaut and Madhavan may not be riding high on buzz, but the promos and the movie’s look has done the trick. People like the promos of the film that features the hit song Sadi Gali.
Tanu Weds Manu Wallpapers
The music of Tanu Weds Manu is by newcomer Krsna and lyrics have been penned by Rajshekhar.

Lehember Hussainpuri’s Sadi Gali gives the album a storming start. This hit Punjabi pop song composed by RDB finds the first place in the album for its spunk and wedding mood. As Tanu Weds Manu revolves around a marriage, this song just fits in and is also the most apt number to promote the film.

Mohit Chauhan gets to belt out the romantic Yun Hi. This song will leave an impression in your mind because of its melody which is not diluted with the heavy use of instruments. The song has quasi-ghazal feel and can remind you of some of the hit soft numbers of the 80s. As for Mohit, the silvery voiced singer continues to get our rah-rah.

Sometimes we just ignore the rich folk culture of music in India; only when a film brings out the folksy tunes that we notice and feel wow. Rangrez, influenced by Rajasthani folk, wins you over with its earthy flavour. It’s a passionate rendition by Krsna, who has got strong vocals.

There is another version of the song Hey Rangrez Mere by none other than Wadali Brothers (Puranchand Wadali & Pyarelal Wadali). The song instantly grabs your attention because of the Sufi duo Wadali Brothers and like always they have delivered a power packed song with their brilliant vocals. A treat for the music aficionados!

The album adds another folksy gem with Piya crooned by Roop Kumar Rathod. This tender song floors us with Roop’s dramatic mix of amazing voice which gives the song a distinct romantic mood.

Now starts the battle between Kanpur and Delhi with Manu Bhaiya. The commonplace lyrics are almost graphic; you can go from Karol Bagh to Qutub Minar within seconds. The song is addictive because of its easy, rustic feel. If Sunidhi Chauhan gets to sing the entire song, the chorus has got the singers Ujjaini, Rakhi Chand, Vivek Naik, Manjeera and Niladri Debnath. Masses can easily relate to this track and that’s what makes it a winner in the album.

Mika makes us forget everything and sing the crackling number Jugni with him. Lyrics of the song in praise of a bold lassie are noteworthy, and make the song a fun to hear. To get into the groove listen to the song. Jugni naughty hai!

Tanu Weds Manu is not like the other Bollywood albums we get to hear now and then. The treatment of the film is different though it’s a masala comedy with cheerful faces and funny dialogues. The songs do full justice to the marriage and masti theme of the movie. There is nothing superfluous about the songs, they lack mush and don’t sound stiflingly romantic. But the diverse range of tracks has one similarity; all are earthy in feel and thus are very endearing.

No smoking please, says 'pregnant' Vidya Balan!: Vidya Balan gets into the skin of the character. Demands a smoking ban on the set because she's playing a pregnant woman

Vidya Balan is playing a six-month pregnant woman in Sujoy Ghosh's Kahaani. To get into the skin of the character, she has called for a No Smoking ban on the set.

While the smokers on the set might resent her call for the ban, the director is maha pleased with her dedication.

Sujoy says, "She's really into the character. So much so that after a while she started freaking us out.

She started behaving like an expectant mother and wouldn't let anyone smoke in front of her.. and we were like.. huh? Pregnant!? Who? So I think for Balan once she is mentally there, physical bits are baaye haath ka khel."

The director might want to lookout for more clues of obsessing with the character. It might get really scary if she started eating for two, or started feeling morning sickness.
'Hum Dono' Movie Review: By Subhash K Jha - Starring Dev Anand, Sadhana, Nanda - Directed by Amarjeet: Abhi na jao chhod kar ke dil abhi bhara nahin…The film's anthemic love ballad, regarded as one of the finest love songs ever composed for Hindi cinema, rings through your heart after the lengthy film is done—and let's face it, nearly 3 hours of playing- time for a long-forgotten war saga can get tedious when you have the next chapter in the Egyptian civil-war waiting at home.

Yes, Hum Dono is back. The 1961 film about two look-alike soldiers who become friends at war, is as far-fetched in plot as…say, today's Dabangg or James Cameron's Avatar.

Indeed the film's old-world values of valour, integrity, loyalty, fidelity and trustworthiness seem to belong to another era, if not a completely different planet. They are rescued from fading by compter-coloured velocity.

Admittedly even today Hum Dono makes a fairly engaging triangular love story with war at its backdrop.

The coloured version that has come to us now leaves us with mixed feelings. Though at first one enjoys the splash of colour that is added to V Ratra's outstanding black-and-white cinematography a lot of the film's original visual intensity is lost in colorized translation.

We are left wondering who decided what colour Dev Anand's shirt or Sadhana's saree was meant to be!Did the color- generating department check with the film's core team to decide the colour schemes? If not, is it ethical or even legally permissible to tamper with the film's creators' original vision?

The Dolby-enhanced sound leaves no room for quibble.Jaidev's music score, considered by many aficionados to be one the 10 finest Hindi motion-picture soundtracks of all times, heals all the wounds of excessive coloured flamboyance.

Whether it is Mohd Rafi and Asha Bhosle's Abhi na jao chhod kar or Lata Mangeshlar's immortal Bhajan Allah tero naam, or those two imperishable Rafi Ghazals Kabhi khud pe kabhi halaat pe rona aaya and Main zindagi ka saath nibhata chala gaya…you just can't help being swept into the sheer melody of the moment.

The casually stylish way the songs are shot, the sharp close-ups being intercut with lyrical poetic long-shots, incidental but intense interludes of passion played out in the visual detailing, all carry the distinctive stamp of Vijay Anand who wrote Hum Dono.

The film's direction is credited to Amarjeet who later directed Dev Anand in a film called Gambler.

Ah, Dev Anand…a star beyond any definition of stardom!! He shines with meteoric melancholy in the double role of men at war with themselves, much more than for his country.

The way this debonair actor enacts the solo numbers by Rafi makes you wonderif the the song came first ?Or was the song inspired by the face that conveys the numbers on screen?

Sadhana (impish, coquettish) and Nanda (tremulously poignant) are lovely supplements to the Dev Anand mystique. What was he thinking when he romanced these beautiful ladies?Surely more than what Sahir Ludhianvi's love-lorn lyrics describe!

They don't make stars like Dev Anand any more. They never will.Or for that matter a film so suffused in the splendour of its own cultivated grace is impossibly to come by in today's era of pelvic passion.

Abhi na jaao chhod kar indeed.

It’s kind of creepy! See how closely Nargis resembles Katrina Kaif! She was never touted as the look-alike of Katrina, but in these images from Rockstar, no one can deny that she looks like the spitting image of Kat. Is that the reason why Kat was feeling insecure of Nargis?

Nargis was selected to romance Ranbir in Rockstar after many fresh faces auditioned for the role. Director Imtiaz Ali was convinced about Nargis being the right gal for the film.

What else is common between the two ladies besides their striking resemblance? Ranveer Singh to confess love for Kareena Kapoor: The Band Baaja Baaraat find Ranveer Singh couldn’t stop gushing about Kareena Kapoor when he appeared on Karan Johar’s show Koffee With Karan with his ladylove Anushka Sharma.

When the show’s host K-Jo asked Ranveer who his favourite Bollywood actress was, the young actor jumped off the couch and went down on his knees to confess love for Kareena.

“I love Kareena. She is the one whom I have idolised from my adolescent days. She is the one who is responsible for making me from boy to man,” Ranveer is reported to have admitted.

Ranveer’s candour did leave the host and his co-guest Anushka a bit amused.

Not just on Johar’s show, we hear that at Imran Khan’s wedding reception party thrown by Aamir Khan, Ranveer couldn’t stop gawking at Kareena who looked super sexy in a black sari.
Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif pairs up again!: In all likelihood, Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif are set to return on the big screen as a couple.

They may have parted ways in real life, but Salman and Katrina still continue to be good friends and look forward to work with each other if a right project comes along. Well, the latest buzz says such a project has just come their way.

We hear that director Kabir Khan, who extracted a critically-praised performance from Katrina Kaif in New York, is in talks with the lady to sign her up for his next project that will be an action thriller with loads of romance thrown in.

Speaking of romance, Salman is top billed to bag the leading role in the film. If he indeed does, it would mark another addition to the Sal-Kat filmography. The duo has worked together in a number of films including Maine Pyar Kyon Kiya, Partner and Yuvvraaj. They were last seen shaking their legs in the song Wallah-re-wallah in Farah Khan’s Tees Maar Khan.

Kabir Khan’s film will be made under the banner of Yash Raj Films. Coincidentally, Katrina is also learnt to be in talks with the banner for another film that will have Shahrukh Khan in the lead role.

A film each with SRK and Sallu? What more could Kat want.
