Salman Khan not excite to get awards anymore?: An actor awaits the moment when he can bag the best actor trophy and deliver an award acceptance speech that evokes thunderous applause. But not Salman Khan.

In the last few days the superstar has been sweeping Best Actor awards for his performance in Dabangg.

First, he won the Star Screen Award, followed by the Apsara Award. But guess what? He did not go on stage to accept any of these awards personally, even though he came to the show, recorded his dance performance, and went back as soon as his job was done.

Enough to lead one to a conclusion that perhaps Salman bhai isn’t excited about winning the awards anymore. His good friend Aamir Khan already mocks these award shows as sham and boycotts them all without exception.

Now, is Salman beginning to feel the same?

What will happen to the award shows if he indeed has.

Box Office Report: good opening of 'Yamla Pagla Deewana': It was a forgone conclusion that Yamla Pagla Deewana, featuring the trinity of true-blue Punjabis -- Dharmendra, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol -- would set new records at theatres in Punjab.

Little surprise then that the film opened to an exceptionally good response at theatres in the north Indian state. Even in New Delhi, which has a large Punjabi population, YPD attracted a lot of footfalls to single screen theatres.

The movie, however, saw an average opening in Mumbai, particularly at multiplexes, with just about 40 percent occupancy. Single screen theatres still had a better response. The south belt too did not lap the movie as enthusiastically as the north.

Yet, YPD is expected to have a decent first weekend and if it picks up in Mumbai, might even go on to be a hit.

On the other hand, there were few takers for Turning 30, starring Gul Panag and Purab Kohli. The film opened to an average response of 20-30 percent at multiplexes. Since the film is mostly in English, it’s aimed at multiplex audiences only.

Last week’s release No One Killed Jessica is keeping steady at theatres.
'Yamla Pagla Deewana' Movie Review: When the Deols come together in a film that spoofs the best of their cinematic work, expect an unfettered celebration of dum, daru, dileri and a lot of dhamaal thrown in to boot. Hand pumps are not uprooted, nor maudlin suicide speeches actually given from atop water tanks. But there are moments of self-spoofs aplenty that bring a somewhat cracked grin to your lips.

Director Samir Karnik’s Yamla Pagla Deewana is a film that, if made with restraint and a lot of editing, might have been a laugh riot. As it is, it is an overlong, tiresome watch, with the Garam Dharam taking the back seat and the young gun Bobby Deol leading the show.

Bobby Deol? Now, what’s one memorable moment from him that can be spoofed with us not failing to notice the gag? Big Brother Sunny Deol has had his ‘dhai kilo ka haath’ and ‘tareekh pe tareekh’. Papa Dharmendra has had his desi daru guzzling sher who pummels the opponents like they were mosquitoes. But...dear me!...Bobby? May be the waxed chest pansy from Dostana. Eh?

So it’s tragic that most of YPD hinges on an actor who yet has to give one memorable cinematic moment, while Sunny, who comes up with the best performance of the trio, is relegated to being a second fiddle, flexing muscles and helping the young bro in love.

Dharam Singh (Dharmendra) and Gajodhar Singh (Bobby Deol) are two con men in Banaras. Paramveer (Sunny Deol) is an NRI from Canada who comes to Banaras to find his long lost brother and father, the aforementioned swindlers. Together the trio make quite a team - Dharam and Gajodhar going about their con games with an added muscle power from the whisky guzzler of a Jat from Canada.

And then, Gajodhar falls in love with a Punjabi kudi (Kulraj Randhawa) who has an overprotective trigger-happy brother (Anupam Kher) with an alarming temper. The bullet or the babe? Gajodhar is in a fix when Param comes to the rescue. The action shifts to Punjab with the scenic backdrop of sarson ke khet followed by a lot of girl-and-her-brother wooing leading to a Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge style wedding drama spiced with a lot of confusion and free-flowing slaps!

It’s an unabashed celebration of everything Punjabi and you’d be a twit to expect some refined humour here. Crass jokes fly thick and fast. Some work, many don’t. But when you see the three Deols grooving to Dharmendra’s signature dance from the ‘Main Jat Yamla Pagla Deewana’ song from the 1975 comedy Pratigya, some of your money is sure vasool-ed.
Priyanka-Shahid both not confirming their love?: Love does make the world go round, among other things. Talks about a torrid affair between Priyanka Chopra and Shahid Kapoor are rife, but the duo isn't in denial mode nor are the two confirming that love is in the air.

However, when Priyanka Chopra was at an awards ceremony and was asked to pay tribute to actresses such as Saira Banu, Hema Malini and Madhuri Dixit, she wasn't too excited with the script given to her. So she hurried in a corner and penned down a couplet of her own for each of them.

It is heard that Priyanka is a good singer as well, and of late, has taken to shayaris - works of Rumi and Ghalib in particular. A friend of the actor says that Priyanka in her own time is often found penning poems and shayaris of her own. We wonder how many of these, she has dedicated to beau Shahid Kapoor. After all, love does make the world go round, among other things.
Shazahn Padamsee's confidence rise up after work with Ajay Devgan: She is a novice; he is a veteran. She is just 22; he is 41. Shazahn Padamsee was apprehensive about matching up her performance with Ajay Devgn, whom she romances in Madhur Bhandarkar's first comedy Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji, but says her "zero confidence" level shot up when he praised her acting skills.

"When I met Ajay sir for the first time...I wasn't nervous, but I was just hoping that there were no complaints. I felt so junior suddenly...and it was like 'My god! I am working with someone so talented!' Shazahn told IANS over phone from Mumbai.

"I just hoped that I could impress him with my talent. So, when at the end of the shoot he came and patted me on the back and said: 'Well Shazahn Padamseedone!', my confidence level went from like zero to 100."

In Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji, Shazahn plays June Pinto, "a happy, bubbly young girl who is child-like, very cute and innocent". The film will release on January 28.

The actress said it was simply "inspiring" to be around Ajay, who has been active in showbiz for the past two decades.

"I remember watching him in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and his performance was so good. He was so awesome in Raajneeti. Ajay sir chooses his films so carefully and all of them are so different, because of which he is among few actors who are not typecast and that's what I love.

"The journey that he has taken in his career is so inspiring because he is not someone who says 'I am an action guy' or 'I am the lover boy', he is someone who does so many different roles. That, for someone new like me, is very inspiring and one feels to be like him," she said.

Shazahn, daughter of noted theatre artiste Alyquee Padamsee and singer Sharon Prabhakar, loved being in Ajay's company not just because she got to learn a lot from him but also due to his sense of humour.

"People think Ajay sir is a very serious kind of person, but he is not so! He is very witty. Many people know that my dad has a very good sense of humour, very tongue-in-cheek, very sarcastic. And I found Ajay sir very similar with the tongue-in-cheek humour.

"I love people who are funny, so I loved being on the sets because he would always keep me in splits," she said.

For a girl as young as her, the box office fate of her debut Hindi film Rocket Singh - Salesman Of The Year, in which she had a blink-and-you-miss role, could have shaken her confidence. But Shazahn has no regrets.

In fact, she is more than happy that she has got the chance to work with formidable names like Ajay and Bhandarkar so early in her Bollywood career.

"I think if I wouldn't have done Rocket Singh, I wouldn't have got Dil Toh.... In life, everything happens for a reason. I don't believe in living with regrets, it's quite a waste of time. I am a super-optimistic person and very positive. It was my first film; so it will always remain special.

"Butm, of course, Dil Toh... has been a great learning experience. I just adore Madhur sir. For a newcomer it is very comforting to have someone who believes in you - and it was very satisfying to know that Madhur sir, who is such a big name in the industry, believed in me. He was confident that I have the potential to do a role opposite someone as big as Ajay Devgn in his film," she added.
Kiran Rao interview: Aamir do not take bath regularly: Now that's a disadvantage of having a celebrity wife. Dhobi Ghat director Kiran Rao leaked Aamir Khan's best kept secret in one of the interviews.

In an interview to Live India, Kiran Rao said, “The one thing that I don’t like about him is the fact that he doesn’t take a bath. And trust me when I say this that his bathing habits are not very regular.” To this the actor jumped in to his rescue and said, “I do take bath when I go out for work.

And considering most of the time I step out for work, I take bath most of the time. It is only when I am not stepping out or when I am on a holiday when I don’t take a bath.”

But Kiran is relieved with the fact that she has someone in the house that she can count on to understand her in and out. “We are really happy together. We are both strong minded people but till now we haven’t faced any problem and it has been six years so far. We are more of friends, so we collaborate our ideas. There are no ego clashes; in fact it is purely enriching to be with each other.”

Kiran Rao admits that she puts across certain points firmly when she's directing a movie, and Aamir is acting. “I do tell him that I am doing a certain thing because I am the director of the movie.” To this Aamir added smiling, “And I give her a suggesting and say that I am the actor of the movie.”

When quizzed about the recent patch-up wave in the industry (SRK and Farah patching up), this is what the couple had to say. “See I don’t have any grudges against anyone in the industry. So I really don’t want to comment,” says Aamir. Adding final twist to the tale was Kiran’s answer to the same question, “I am so new to the industry that I am really no one to comment on this. But I must confess that sometimes what SRK says makes no sense to me.”
Katrina Kaif: No talking about Salman Khan: Though Farah Khan’s Tees Maar Khan didn’t exactly live up to the hype it generated, Katrina Kaif has walked away with accolades for pirouetting seductively to Sheila ki jawani...

She also remains unaffected by all the speculation by the media about her ‘on and off’ relationship with Salman Khan. “It’s a part of life.

Salman and I both are actors so the speculation will continue. I have to maintain my dignity,” says the actor.

Considered to be one of the top female actors in the industry, Kaif has a lot to look forward to this year — Karan Johar’s Dostana 2, Zoya Akhtar’s Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara where she is paired opposite Hrithik Roshan, Yashraj Film’s Mere Brother Ki Shaadi with Imran Khan and Rajkumar Santoshi’s next with Abhishek Bachchan. However, she wouldn’t say she has had it all easy.

She stayed strong when detractors wrote her off. They said she wouldn’t become a successful actor, as she couldn’t speak Hindi. “It doesn’t bother me,” says Kaif, adding, “Hindi is my second language, English, the first. It’s wonderful to see that the audience has supported me despite my accented Hindi.”

Kaif had to take on a lot of pressure when she first entered the industry. She was constantly judged and her talent, questioned. “Everything in life has a good and bad side. No matter which industry you are in, or what position you are at, it’s all about the approach you have towards life. It’s something that I constantly work on. There are months where I battle things myself, but I correct my approach and make it consciously positive so that I see the good in life.” Even though her co-star from Mere Brother Ki Shaadi, Imran Khan, voted her lower on the acting scale on Koffee With Karan, she took it in her stride: “God bless him.”

She also recently received the Hindustan Times Reader’s Choice Awards for the ‘Best Entertainer of the Year’. “I thank the audience for their support. I wouldn’t be where I am today without their love and encouragement. It means a lot to me. Feels great to be getting it along side Shah Rukh Khan.”
Farah Khan to work with Aamir Khan after 10 years: Now that her `Tees Maar Khan` is over and done with, filmmaker Farah Khan is all set indulge in her first love, choreography. She`s been asked by Aamir Khan to choreograph a song for `Delhi Belly`.

Confirming her professional reunion with Aamir after 10 years, Farah says, "Yes, I`m doing a song for Aamir`s `Delhi Belly` because he has asked me to."

So, does this mean Farah is returning to choreography in a big way?

Retorts Farah, "Not at all! I don`t actively do choreography any more. Only a song here or there for friends. Besides Aamir`s song I will be doing the `Housefull 2` numbers for my brother Sajid and, of course, my husband Shirish Kunder`s `Joker`. That`s it for now. No more choreography this year. I`m busy writing my next script."

"Delhi Belly" was completed by director Abhinay Deo last year.

The project is as special to Aamir as his wife Kiran Rao`s "Dhobi Ghat" because it stars his nephew Imran Khan. The quirky film about a prodigal`s return to the capital has been described as a sex comedy.

The song choreographed by Farah Khan in "Delhi Belly" would be filmed on Imran Khan. Apparently Aamir wants the same feeling of youthful vibrancy in it that Farah had created for Aamir in the "Pehla nasha" number in "Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar".

"Pehla nasha" was the first song that Farah choreographed. After "Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar", she has choreographed only twice for Aamir, in "Sarfarosh" and "Dil Chahta Hai".

Aamir`s attention is now turning towards its post-production work, now that Kiran Rao`s directorial debut "Dhobi Ghat" is about to release.

Deo has moved on to his next project, "Game", for producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani.
